Clothing Swap App
Commu
One man's trash is another man's treasure! — Interest in sustainable fashion is on the rise. But purchasing conscious garments is quite costly, and donating your clothes is not the best option either. Introducing Commu; the mobile app that connects you with your sustainable fashion soulmates! With Commu, you can organize clothing swap parties and swap your pre-loved items for some new-to-you gems. Not only will you be saving money, but you'll also be reducing waste and building a community of like-minded fashion enthusiasts.

The Problem
After conducting extensive secondary, quantitative, and qualitative research, I discovered that clothing swap events have great potential for sustainable fashion enthusiasts. However, existing apps with similar models lack the in-person positive social experience and bonding that clothing swap events have. Respondents expressed interest in joining swap events but were often unsure how to participate and concerned about finding individuals with similar size and style preferences.
Goals
My goal is to create a platform that connects like-minded conscious fashionistas for clothing swapping, making it easier for individuals to participate and organize clothing swaps of their own. By facilitating a community that matches people based on their style and size preferences, I aim to lower the barriers to entry, and create positive change in the fashion industry and clothing swap movement.
Concept Test
To generate ideas for the product, I did a group brainstorming session and created a mind map based on the user persona and empathy map. I selected the most fitting ideas and put them through a concept test using Typeform.
Create a Profile and Add Items
When creating a profile, users are required to input their personal information, which includes their preferred clothing size. To upload an item for swapping, users need to include images and provide information about the brand, condition, and size of the item. These added items can be viewed in the user's personal profile.
Swipe to Find Items you Love
The app utilizes the famous swiping pattern to help users find items they love. By swiping left or right, users express their interest in items instead of profiles, preventing people to be left out. Eventually, users are added to a group of individuals with similar tastes and sizes.
Getting Matched
The user is added to a group of people with similar size and style. Through the chat you can organize swap parties, and find a place to donate leftover items after the event. Both can be organized through a poll feature.
Design System
In this project, I focused on creating an accessible and constructive design system for the app's interface. I achieved this by incorporating familiar mobile design patterns, making it easy for the user to navigate and engage with the app. The main objective was to ensure that the design system was intuitive and user-friendly, facilitating a seamless and positive user experience.
Results
In this project, I merged my fashion and sustainability expertise with my UX/UI design skills to produce an app that encourages users to make conscious fashion choices. Although the app was not developed, there was a notable level of interest expressed by some individuals for the concept.
